Vietnam, Russia agree on cooperation plan until 2030

During the meeting of January 13 in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Ministers Tran Hong Ha and Dmitry Chernyshenko discussed the status of existing agreements and emphasized reinforcing Vietnam-Russia cooperation in business, healthcare, agriculture, trade, and education sectors until 2030. To address challenges in moving joint projects and initiatives forward, Deputy Prime Minister Ha recommended improving communication exchange systems.

As reported in Vietnamplus, the two countries have come to an agreement on formulating a comprehensive plan for Vietnam-Russia partnership advancement by 2030 with specific benchmarks for cooperation in business, health, agriculture, trade, and education. As part of a recently announced roadmap aimed at strengthening the long-term strategic relationship between the two countries, 2025 will mark a leap in the growth of Vietnam-Russia relations across all sectors through the mechanism of the intergovernmental committee and its subcommittees and working groups.

He also suggested considering new agreements on intergovernmental cooperation in important areas. In addition, specific agreements were concluded on the principles of cooperation in traditional energy and the oil and gas industry. They also endorsed a project to open a Russian school in Hanoi and an agricultural cooperation plan.

Both sides outlined important steps to improve cooperation in agriculture, industry, energy (including oil and gas), science, education, culture, sport, information & communication sectors to further strengthen bilateral ties. They pledged to expand the teaching of Vietnamese and Russian languages ​​in both countries, boost tourism, encourage people-to-people interactions, support scholarship programs for Vietnamese students, and attract more Russian students to Vietnam for study and research.
