How Vietnam is attracting global electronics and PCB manufacturers

For many years Vietnam’s electronics manufacturing scene used to be quiet, almost invisible. But since I arrived in 2012, I’ve watched it turn into something fierce. While the world got tangled in trade wars and shifting alliances, Vietnam moved fast and played smart. It didn’t just react—it invited disruption. Factories—from plastics to Vietnam PCB manufacturers, even full-on semiconductor plants—sprung up seemingly overnight. Policies shifted abroad, and Vietnam answered with action, not hesitation. The recent tariff exemptions on consumer electronics didn’t go unnoticed. Investors began locking in land, building out plants, and rerouting entire strategies to set up here. What once felt like a backup option now looks like a core command center for global electronics manufacturing.

If you’re finding suppliers in Vietnam for electronics or hardware, don’t just look for availability—look for alignment. From a marketing POV every company seems beautiful on paper, and based on our experience, this is a factor that can waste a lot of your time tryna sort out those companies. After visiting many factories that we found online and looked perfect on paper, we quickly realized that it's only by being physically present you can truly tell if a factory aligns with your needs. That's the reason we created Vietnamia—to be your boots on the ground without actually being physically present, saving your valuable time.

Vietnam’s Rise as a Global Electronics Manufacturing Hub

SpaceX just dropped a $1.5 billion play into Vietnam’s digital future. Not far behind, Zuckerberg’s Meta is eyeing Bac Giang for VR gear production. Same province, same heat—Foxconn, Apple’s go-to, is putting $80 million into semiconductors. Samsung is set to $23.2 billion in Vietnam to expand into new areas such as AI, semiconductors and digital transformation.

One of the other examples of Vietnam's rapid development is the VinFast company. They not only produce consumer devices such as phones, but also produce electric cars that are sold overseas to countries such as the US. They’re not just assembling kits. They’re designing, building, and branding world-class EVs from the ground up — batteries, powertrains, UX. And yes, they’ve even entered the consumer electronics space, releasing their own phones and gadgets.

Startups and Hardware Accelerators in Vietnam

Vietnam’s turning into a place where hardware startups can get moving without all the overhead. It wasn’t long ago that prototyping labs and PCB assembly shops were rare—now they’re everywhere. Vietnam has gone through numerous upheavals, and now local founders are tapping into the changes to create PCB & electronics manufacturing startups with a cross-border objective. Thanks to a growing number of business incubators and startup accelerators, what used to take years of trial and error can now be fast-tracked into a launch-ready electronics manufacturing startup.

Take Expara Ventures, for instance. Every year, a large number of applicants apply to the Expara accelerator program. To get accepted into Expara, startups must meet several criteria: being a registered company, holding patents or protected IP, and having a capable team with a clear execution plan. Both startups met these requirements and joined the Expara Venture Accelerator Program. As part of Atomium Studio, I had a front-row seat to this shift. When we joined the Expara Venture Accelerator, we weren’t a typical software startup. We were bringing a hardware concept to life — one that required navigating Vietnam’s entire manufacturing ecosystem: CNC machining, injection molding, tooling, DFM, and all the messy real-world challenges that come with it.

What's Next for Vietnam Electronics Manufacturing?

Factories multiply. Logistics sharpen. Vietnam’s no longer a backup plan—it’s becoming the backbone. Apple, Samsung, and a wave of global tech are locking into the ecosystem. Everyone’s betting this boom won’t slow—and at Vietnamia, we’re in it knee-deep. Prototypes, CNC, molds, factory consultations—we help founders go from napkin sketch to production-ready without losing their edge. Got something to build? Let’s make it real—use a trusted Vietnam suppliers website that gives you visibility into real, factory-level data before you spend a single dollar on manufacturing.

It was hard to find the right electronics manufacturer without the necessary experience and clear understanding. Only after we figured out how to do it the right way were we able to move forward — but by then, a lot of time had already been lost.

That’s one of the major reasons that became the foundation for creating Vietnamia. We understand that almost every foreign company and entrepreneur faces this same challenge on their Vietnam electronics manufacturing journey. We’re here to be your boots on the ground — without you actually having to be there — saving your valuable time.
